The 'New Frontier of Education and Research in Wind Engineering' proposed by the School of Architecture and Wind Engineering at the Tokyo Polytechnic University was adopted as the Global COE Program, MEXT (5 years,2008-2012). The previous 21st Century COE Program (5years, 2003-2007) has received a high evaluation. Global COE is to promote 'the highest world class research' and 'the prominent education and research in the international aspects'. The aim of Global COE Program, MEXT is to implement internationally competitive university development. In the branch of engineering discipline within Japan, only 14 proposals being shortlisted for Global COE program. Among these selected proposals, 5 programs were contributed in private university. Our major education research fields are 'mitigation of wind hazard', 'ventilation using the natural energy', and 'wind environment and air pollution'. Based on the designated research area, we are carrying out the education research aggressively in the field of wind engineering incorporated with the wind engineering research institutes in 98 countries. ¢£The 6th International Symposium on Wind Effects on Buildings and Urban Environment (ISWE6) Current-State-of-the-Art in Wind Engineering and Outlook for the Future Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku March 6, 2013, Tokyo, Japan [Nov. 28, 2012 updated] ¢£9th International Advanced School on Wind Engineering Structural Wind Engineering (August 13-15, 2012) Environmental Wind Engineering (August 15-16, 2012) Venue: National Engineering Center, University of the Philippines [August 6, 2012 updated] ¢£Global COE Open Seminar The 47th Global COE Open Seminar (No.117)
